I’m currently the Library Systems Manager at the University of Huddersfield, located in the centre of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (UK).
Amongst other things, I’m responsible for Horizon (integrated library management system), HIP (library catalogue), MetaLib (electronic resources portal), and OpenAthens (authentication).
My background is in systems and web development — from coding EDI software for a major UK library supplier, to writing the software for the INFORMS Project.
Over the years, I’ve set up a number of web sites including 709 Online and (currently) The Alfred Hitchcock Wiki.
Bryony, my partner of 10+ years, also works at the University — her web site is www.bryonyramsden.co.uk.
Some of fave bands are Tindersticks, Wedding Present, Pixies, and Lisa Germano.
…and just in case you were wondering:
- the main banner pictures on the blog are cropped versions of photos from my Flickr account
- the blog title is taken from a quote by Alfred Hitchcock
- “Davey P” was my nickname from school
Although I work for, and many of the weblog posts here relate to, the University of Huddersfield, this is a personal weblog and any views or opinions expressed here are my own and are not endorsed by the University.
